Dapp didn't know what the cause of the power outage was.
People can report a power outage on the Alectra website.
In the event of a large power outage there are four phases to restore power. In phase one crews work to restore power outages at hospitals, water pumping stations, water treatment plants and other critical community services first, said on the website.
Next, power is restored to places like community centres, retirement homes, and emergency services locations.
In phase three crews work to restore power to large groups by reconnecting neighbourhoods or streets.
The last phase is to restore power to individual homes and businesses. The website didn’t indicate whether a power outage over 6,000 homes and businesses would be considered a large power outage.
