Nancy Moore of Guelph was struck by the Lightning Lotto jackpot on September 1, 2024. The top prize had grown to $281,454.70 before it was won!
Nancy, a mail carrier, has been playing the lottery with OLG weekly for about seven years. Her favourite games include Lightning Lotto, Poker Lotto, and the occasional instant ticket. She is now ecstatic to be celebrating her first big win!
“I was at the store when I decided to pick up a Lightning Lotto ticket. The lottery terminal froze, and I didn’t hear the ticket print. I asked the store clerk what happened, and he said, ‘I’m not sure, but I think you won!’ Sure enough, a slip printed, confirming that OLG would be calling,” Nancy recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. “Once I spoke with the OLG representative, I couldn’t believe it! I was in complete shock.”
Excited to share the news of her win, Nancy first told her partner. “He was just as shocked as I was and kept asking me, ‘Are you sure?’” she laughed.
With her windfall, Nancy plans to invest in her home and save the rest for her retirement.
