Access to books and other materials has grown again for Guelph Public Library card-holders.
Announced Tuesday morning, a reciprocal borrowing agreement has been finalized with Milton Public Library, allowing library patrons access to both collections.
“The Guelph Public Library is excited to support reciprocal borrowing in this partnership with Milton Public Library,” said Dan Atkins, acting-CEO of Guelph Public Library, in a news release. “By enabling our members to borrow materials from other libraries without additional membership fees, we expand opportunities for discovery, learning, and connection.
"This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing seamless access to information and to empowering our communities with a diverse range of resources.”
Reciprocal borrowing agreements are already in place with Cambridge Public Library, Wellington County Public Library and Waterloo Public Library. As a result of the Milton agreement, Guelph card-holders can access 21 library branches outside the city.
Included in the rules for reciprocal borrowing is that all holds and requests must be picked up from the requested library system. Items must also be returned to that system, with any outstanding fees paid.
