This year marks a significant milestone as Guelph General Hospital proudly celebrates their 150th anniversary of serving the Guelph-Wellington community. Since 1875, the hospital has been at the forefront of healthcare, dedicated to providing exceptional care with compassion and innovation.

From humble beginnings as a two-storey building with just 12 beds, to becoming a cornerstone of care in Guelph, the hospital has grown alongside the community it serves. Over the past century and a half the hospital has continually evolved, adapting to advancements in technology and changes in how care is delivered, while remaining steadfast in the commitment to putting those served at the centre of it all.

To commemorate this historic occasion Guelph General Hospital will be launching a series of events and initiatives over the next several months across their communications channels, including a story submission contest and trivia game.

"We have a lot to be proud of, and so does our community. While turning 150 speaks to our hospital’s longevity, it is more a testament to the remarkable contributions of so many, past and present. We look forward to continuing this journey, building on our rich history, and striving towards an even brighter future,” said Mark Walton, President & CEO of Guelph General Hospital.

Follow the hospital on social media or visit the website for updates on upcoming events and ways to participate. To learn more about the hospital’s history see, ‘A century of care and concern’ produced by the Museum of Guelph.
