The Guelph Community Singers is ready to welcome new members this season. Rehearsals start Sept. 4.

The Guelph Community Singers is looking for more people to join its choir for the upcoming season.

It has about 80 current members and wants to grow to 115.

There are no auditions for the choir group. It is open to all singers no matter their experience or skill level.

“I would say that it's really fun. That if you love singing, you don't have to audition, so you don't have to worry that people are going to judge you,” said Shelley Adlington, marketing director for the Guelph Community Singers. “I mean that's a big thing about singing: you're always afraid that people are going to judge you. No one's judging you. You're going to fit in.”

The group practices at Trinity United Church on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. The first rehearsal is Sept. 4.

The group performs two concerts per season. One in January and the other in June. The choir is directed by Henry Muth, accompanied by Grace Peters.

Adlington has been a singer in the choir for the past two seasons. She grew up in church singing and it's always something she enjoyed.

She thinks joining the choir can help people “find their joy” again. It’s also a way for people to make new friends.
