Misuse of a Guelph soccer pitch is forcing the city to lock vehicular access to it earlier than planned.
The city is closing and locking the gate to Guelph Lake Sports Fields in light of damage being done to one of the soccer fields, it said in a post to social media Friday morning.
Tire tracks could be seen near the field.
The city said it usually locks the gate on Dec. 1, but the misuse is prompting the closure to prevent more damage.
“Pedestrians can reach the playground, but vehicle access will be restricted,” the city said on X.
Hey Guelph, there's been some damage to the Guelph Lake Sports Fields, caused by misuse. Usually closed Dec. 1, we're locking the gate earlier this year to prevent more damage. Pedestrians can reach the playground, but vehicle access will be restricted. Thank you. pic.twitter.com/ORuhrfGAho
