Farm Boy grocery store coming to Guelph in 2022

Ontario chain won't say exactly where it's going, but it might be the Staples location on Stone Road

Ottawa-based grocery chain Farm Boy confirms it is opening a store in Guelph at some point in 2022.

A company spokesperson confirmed to GuelphToday that the chain will open sometime next year but wouldn't say exactly when or where the store was going.

Internet chatter has them moving into the Staples location on Stone Road. That Staples is relocating to the former Mark's store on Edinburgh Road, which is currently being renovated.

Staples went to the city's committee of adjustment last March to get a minor variance for the renovations it needed before relocating its Stone Road store there.

Farm Boy started as a small produce store in Cornwall in 1981 and now has over 40 locations throughout the province, including locations in Kitchener and Burlington.

All locations feature hot to-go foods and they have their own line of products.
