NEWS RELEASE
EMERGE GUELPH
*************************
Much of what we do in life affects climate change - including our water use. We use energy to move water from city wells to our homes and businesses and then down the drain for sewage treatment. All of this impacts climate change.
What if we could use rain to fight back?
Many consider 'harvesting' rain from their rooftop to water their garden. But imagine using it to wash your clothes and even flush your toilets.
While people usually start with rain barrels for outdoor use, some realize the opportunity is much greater than just a couple of 200 litre containers. What if we stored 1,000 - 2,000 litres or much more, to use year round inside and outside our homes.
eMERGE Guelph is hosting Rainwater Harvesting coming up at 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 13.
Learn how you can start by using a single rain barrel or maybe you're ready for a whole home rain water harvesting systems. And to help you to get there, the City of Guelph is offering rebates up to $2,000.
This can be your first step to register your home for the City's Blue Built Home program, a City of Guelph program that helps identify water heroes.
The process may seem daunting at first. But, the reduction in your monthly water consumption and benefits to the environment can be well worth it.
Join us as we explore the options from seasonal rain barrels to year round rainwater harvesting systems to help fight climate change.
The public can register for this online event here.
