FERGUS – It’ll be a day of Scottish and Fergus pride as Downtown Fergus celebrates its heritage this weekend.
On Sunday, Downtown Fergus will be filled with events for Tartan Day, a celebration of Scottish heritage held in North America, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors will get to enjoy live Celtic-style music and can participate in a history walk that will tell of the rich history of the town.
There’s lots to do for children as they can give highland inspired games like caber toss and LARP archer at the “McKiddies Highland Games” area in the TD Bank parking lot.
For the adults, the Mystery Fergus Beer will be launched. A collaboration between the Outpost Bottle Shop and Goodlot Farmstead Brewery, this beer is made with Fergus grown hops and is described as easy-drinking.
Local shops will also be participating in the festivities. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit The Bookery for a Celtic Henna Tattoo, Nordic Rune readings, and Divine Guidance with Lilli, who has 20 years of experience as a medium.
Live music will be available at The Breadalbane, The Brewhouse, Goofie Newfie, and Outpost Bottle Shop with the Fergus Pipe Band, the Celtic Pipe Band, and Skirl providing walk-around music to keep visitors entertained throughout the day.
