The search for the right location for a three-hole disc golf course continues, after public feedback inspired city officials to rule out Peter Misersky Park.
The temporary course was installed at the west end park in October, with an online survey for area residents and users to provide input on whether it should be made permanent.
“With other disc golf facilities in nearby parks, and in response to the concerns raised around parking and some conflict with other park uses, we are not recommending to make disc golf a permanent feature in Peter Misersky Park at this time,” explains a feedback summary report posted on the city’s website.
“We will, however, keep the three-hole disc golf loop in place for neighbourhood use for a few more months as there were also many respondents who supported the course in this location.”
The search for a short-course location, or beginner loop, is intended to help grow the sport and create new, accessible recreation opportunities.
“We will continue our search for the right space to create a permanent loop, and we will continue to use this temporary course to test the sport out across the city,” the report notes.
Guelph currently has two permanent disc golf courses, with one at Riverside Park on Woolwich Street and one at Eastview Community Park on Watson Parkway North.
