The deadline for the 2016 YMCA-YWCA of Guelph Women of Distinction fundraising awards has been extended to Friday.
Manager of association services Bruce Bailey said it isn't uncommon for people to wait until the last minute to get their nominees in.
"We had enough people that we knew were working on nominations that were going to be cutting it close. We wanted to make it less stressful," Bailey said.
The original deadline was January 31. It has now been extended to 11 p.m. Friday.
Bailey said the Y has extended the deadline the past couple of years.
The awards recognize women in the community for their outstanding achievements and contributions. It is also a fundraiser for the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph programs such as the Teenage Parents Program (TAPPs).
Nominees will be announced at an event March 31 and the Women Of Distinction Awards will be held May 5 at the River Run Centre.
Nominations can be dropped off in person or submitted online.
