The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is gearing up this Saturday for walkers to raise money for charities that serve people who experience homelessness.
CNOY events are hosted across Canada, the US and the UK.
The night starts at 4 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Guelph CVI with an opening ceremony.
The two downtown routes, 2 km and 5 km end at Hope House. Walkers will be greeted with bowls of chili.
For this years’ fundraising walk, the goal is to raise $200,000.
So far nearly $135,000 has been raised. Money raised at Guelph’s CNOY will go towards Hope House, a local charity that serves vulnerable people.
Last year the Guelph CNOY fundraiser made $165,879 surpassing its goal of $148,000.
There are 80 teams and 482 walkers signed up for this year's event. The teams that have raised the most money so far are Hope Walks with $14,057, Hope for All with $11,490 and Skyline Guelph with $6,585.
