City to shut down Speedvale at Woolwich for four days

Closure to begin Oct. 15 for paving and line painting

A busy intersection is set to close once again, this time for a top layer of pavement and line painting activities.

The cross section of Speedvale Avenue East and Woolwich Street will be shut down from Oct. 15 the morning of Oct. 19, with additional work in the area set to take place overnight Oct. 17 into 18 and Oct. 18 into 19.

“Please plan alternate routes if travelling in the area,” states a post on the city’s website. “Pedestrian access will be maintained on at least one side of the road as the work is completed.”

That intersection has seen closures in recent months as city officials worked to replace underground infrastructure and install multi-use paths.

At least one entrance to all businesses in the construction area is expected to remain accessible between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

In addition to the intersection shutdown, nearby areas of Speedvale and Woolwich will be closed from 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 to 8 a.m. the next morning and again from 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 through to 8 a.m. on Oct. 19.
