In response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, the City of Guelph has launched an online resource hub.
The U.S. implemented 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods Tuesday. Canada responded with 25 per cent counter-tariffs against $30 billion American goods.
“We understand the challenges this could present to local businesses, workers, and the broader Canadian economy,” the page states. “The City of Guelph stands united with our community and partners across Canada. We will continue to navigate these challenges with resilience and determination, ensuring that the interests of our local businesses and workers are at the forefront.”
The hub, which states about 98.5 per cent of all city purchases come from Canadian vendors, provides a long list of resources for both businesses and residents, including ways to shop local.
Residents are encouraged to post online with the hashtags #GotItInGuelph or #GuelphShops to encourage others to support local.
The hub will be updated on an ongoing basis as more information becomes available.
For #Guelph businesses and others looking for tariff resources, we’ve put together this hub. It’ll be updated as we know more. Please support local and take the time to back Canadian services and products! https://t.co/9uZpAj6f1H
