WELLINGTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Wellington Catholic District School Board Trustees selected their chair and vice-chair for the coming year at the Board's inaugural meeting Monday evening.
Marino Gazzola has been acclaimed as Wellington Catholic District School Board chair. Gazzola is a long-serving member of the Wellington Catholic District School Board having served for over 30 years as trustee including holding positions as chair and vice-chair. He is currently a regional representative of the Ontario Catholic School Board Trustees Association (OCSTA) and served, previously, as President and Vice-President. chair Gazzola has also served as a member of the Board of Directors and key leadership positions with the Canadian Catholic School Board Trustees Association (CCSTA), including a three-year term as President. Gazzola has been a strong advocate for Catholic Education and ensuring students have the best educational opportunities possible in his terms as trustee.
“It is an honour to serve as chair of the Wellington Catholic District School Board and work alongside fellow trustees in supporting senior administration and our school board staff in creating the best possible outcomes for students. We are proud of the excellent work being done in our schools every day and want to continue in that tradition.” shared Gazzola. “As chair of the Board and stewards of Catholic Education, we are committed to ensuring student achievement, well-being, and faith-formation are at the forefront of our decision-making as a Board of Trustees. Vikki Dupuis, who has served for three terms as chair, was acclaimed as vice-chair, serving alongside Gazzola. Dupuis has served the Wellington Catholic DSB for over 25 years, earning the honourable Ontario Catholic Trustees Association Trustee Award of Merit in 2019. As a champion of equity, inclusion, and empowering youth leaders, she brings valuable knowledge, experience, and leadership to the Board.
“I am grateful and honoured to be elected as vice-chair and to be able to continue to work with such a committed board of trustees and staff, to advocate and support a quality faith-based education. I believe it is critical that all of our students have a positive and enriching school experience from the time they enter our system until their graduation and, to that end, being able to serve our community in this capacity is a privilege,” shared Dupuis. “Our Board is focused on supporting the hard work of our administration and staff and in fostering safe, welcoming, and equitable learning environments in our schools.”
In their service as chair and vice-chair, Gazzola and Dupuis, trustees will focus on student achievement and well-being, participating in making decisions that benefit the entire school board.
Each will serve a term of one year and carry out their duties until next November.
