A cannabis store is anticipated to open in the coming weeks at the Circle K at 138 College Ave. W. in Guelph, through the use of a cannabis technology platform and Spark Perks member program.

You will soon be able to get your cannabis products, munchies and gas all in one place.

Fire and Flower Cannabis and Alimentation Couche-Tard – the parent company of Circle K – is opening new cannabis stores within Circle K locations, including a spot in Guelph.

Signs are posted at the Circle K gas station at the corner of Edinburgh Road and College Avenue that cannabis will soon be available through a separate entrance in the same building of the convenience store.

In a news release, Fire and Flower said it's an advancement in the partnership between it and Couche-Tard through license agreements to use a digital retail platform and a Spark Perks member program.

The signs outside the Guelph location are all marked with Spark Perks logos, with QR codes that link to the Fire and Flower Cannabis website to order online.

The CEO of Fire and Flower said having access to Circle K's real estate "demonstrates the differentiating value of the strategic relationship with our partner."

"We continue to demonstrate major progress on the expansion of our strategic relationship with Couche-Tard through the licensing of Hifyre's proprietary platform and Spark Perks member program at four additional co-located cannabis stores and the proposed acquisition of two cannabis stores (in Kingston)," Stephanie Trudel said in a release.

"Additionally, Couche-Tard has recently committed its financial support through the previously announced $11 million loan and $5 million private placement, subject to the receipt of shareholder approval."

Alex Miller, the executive vice-president of North American operations with Alimentation Couche-Tard, said it continues to see promise in the cannabis market and is committed to learning more about the space as it evolves in Canada and beyond.

"With now five co-located cannabis stores next to high-traffic Circle K stores in the Greater Toronto area, we see it as a natural extension of our expertise to pair our convenient shopping experience and differentiating store footprint with the growing customer demand for cannabis products," he said.

The Guelph location, as well as stores in Brampton, Oshawa and Hamilton, are anticipated to open in the coming weeks.

Fire and Flower added it "continues to pursue additional opportunities to expand its Circle K co-located store program."
