Guelph was digging, plowing, and blowing out Wednesday morning after a blizzard hammered the city Tuesday night and through the night.
Anywhere from 15-25 centimeters of snow fell, and fell quickly on the city. A storm watch was in effect throughout the region Tuesday, and motorists were advised to foregone nonessential travel.
The worst of the storm blew in just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, with strong winds gusting up to 46 km/hr at times. The temperature dropped to -11C as the winds continued to howl throughout Tuesday night.
Visibility was minimal, driving was hazardous, and pedestrians were lambasted as what appeared to be the most severe snowstorm of the winter took hold.
City crews worked through the night to clear main arteries, and residential streets were being worked on Wednesday morning. Homeowners were out early clearing sidewalks and driveways.
Wednesday morning saw clearing conditions and sunny skies, and those will continue Thursday and Friday, with temperatures climbing as the week progresses. The thermostat will be above zero by Sunday, and up to a balmy 9C by Monday, according to Environment Canada.
