The City of Guelph is seeking youth who are passionate about designing and implementing climate change solutions in Guelph for the Youth Climate Action Fund micro-grant program.
The initiative seeks to empower youth by equipping them with resources and support to achieve environmental stewardship goals.
It’s open to youth aged 15 to 24. A total of $120,000 is available through the program, and applicants can apply for funding for projects ranging from $1,500 to $7,000 each.
Projects must be youth-led and can range from community gardening, tree planting, reforestation and urban farming to public education or active transportation campaigns, greenhouse gas emission reduction programs, climate resilience workshops and recycling or waste reduction initiatives.
Any applicants who received funding last year are welcome to reapply with new ideas this time around.
Schools, clubs, colleges and universities are encouraged to support youth with their applications.
It’s the second year Guelph has been chosen as one of six cities across the country to receive and distribute the grant through the Youth Climate Action Fund from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
