Toronto’s 680 NEWS is reporting that the entire province will enter the grey-lockdown stage as part of the provincial Coronavirus Response Framework, beginning on Christmas Eve, citing a government source.
The move would mean restricting non-essential retail and prohibit indoor dining, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.
The radio station also reported that the length of the lockdown would vary by region.
Premier Doug Ford has already confirmed the extension of lockdown measures in Toronto and Peel Region until Jan. 4 and that Hamilton would join the grey-lockdown zone on Monday.
Ford is expected to announce additional measures at a press conference Monday at 1 p.m.
Global News is reporting this afternoon that, according to sources, the lockdown is expected to last 28 days for most regions, though the north would be looking at a two-week lockdown.
As part of the province’s Coronavirus Response Framework, restrictions as part of the grey-lockdown level include a ban on indoor social gatherings with anyone that isn’t a part of your household, the closing of non-essential businesses as well as many fitness facilities, while restaurants and bars would be limited to takeout service only.
