A little rain can't dampen Syrup in the City spirit (9 photos)

Annual event is part of the city's weekend Resilience Festival

Some cold rain couldn't stop roughly 600 people from attending the annual Syrup in the City event at John McCrae Public School on Saturday.

The event is hosted by the Resilience Festival, the Upper Grand District School Board's Community Environmental Leadership Program and John McCrae Public School, where maple trees on the school grounds are tapped to collect syrup and to be used as an educational tool.

Mountsberg Conservation Area's raptor centre, bird house making, circus skills, log sawing and a number of educational stops around making syrup were all part of the event, as was a pancake breakfast served in the school gymnasium.
