GuelphToday received the following Letter to the Editor from Greg Kennedy, the Executive Director of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre:

Regg Struyk correctly notes in his letter to the editor that the Ignatius Jesuit Centre (IJC) “is a gem in Guelph for those who love the outdoors.”

A slight correction, however, should be made to his subsequent sentence that states the ski trails at Ignatius are “public”.

In fact, all 640 beautiful acres that comprise IJC are private property, to which we welcome visitors as guests.

As owners and stewards of this precious place, we ask that guests respect the land (which includes, as Mr. Struyk rightly admonishes, cleaning up after pets) and keep their dogs on leashes at all times.

The latter rule is to preserve the peace, tranquility and safety here for all creatures, human and otherwise.

In addition to these simple “house rules”, we also ask for financial assistance from those who love our outdoors, as maintaining our trails and land is very costly. As opposed to public parks, which receive funding from taxes, we rely on donors to help IJC remain the welcoming gem that it is for so many people. If you enjoy IJC, please support us.
