Locally owned and operated Guelph restaurant Crafty Ramen struck a new partnership with Walmart and now its frozen ramen can be found at the 350 Walmart stores in Canada.
Three varieties of ramen will be available at Canadian Walmart stores which are; spicy chicken tantanmen, the northern warmer and the kaizen warrior.
"When I first moved to Canada, traditional, house-made ramen was a challenge to find, which as a newcomer looking to find my place, felt isolating. Crafty Ramen was our way of sharing Japanese culture and creating that feeling of home here," said Miki Ferrall, co-founder of Crafty Ramen, in a press release.
Crafty Ramen will be available at Walmart in the coming weeks.
“For Canadians across the country, Walmart plays an important role in their daily lives; that's why we're proud to be available in their stores across the country, making restaurant-quality ramen more accessible, growing our community and connecting more people to the comfort that lives in each bowl of our ramen,” she said.
This partnership comes after Crafty Ramen struck a deal with Arlene Dickinson on Dragons’ Den in 2022. Dickinson gave them a $600,000 loan in exchange for 12 per cent of the company.
Crafty Ramen announced the Walmart partnership through a video on Instagram posted this morning.
“The idea that almost every Canadian is now able to enjoy Crafty Ramen is something that we only ever dreamed of,” said Ferrall, in the video.
People commented on the post extending their congratulations. “Congratulations. Just stocked up at Stone Road!” said one comment.
“So much hard work and passion to get here. Incredibly proud of the Crafty Ramen crew!” said another comment.
Crafty Ramen teased the announcement in a couple videos leading up to today.
