COVID outbreaks at a pair of area long-term care and retirement homes have now resulted in 32 deaths.
Caressant Care Long-Term Care Home in Arthur has been battling an outbreak since Dec. 26. So far there have been 18 deaths at the facility. The outbreak has resulted in a total of 119 cases – 56 residents and 63 staff – since it began.
At the Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph there are outbreaks in both the long-term care facility and the retirement facility.
The outbreak at the long-term care home has had a total of 76 cases since it began Dec. 17, 40 residents and 36 staff, with nine people having died. The retirement home outbreak was announced Jan. 10 and to date has had 50 residents and 26 staff infected, with five deaths.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health reports there are currently 11 ongoing facility outbreaks, including four new ones this week, but none have resulted in any deaths at this point.
There have been 77 outbreaks to date, 66 of them resolved.
