Guelph - Seniors for Climate Day of Action

Tuesday, October 1, 2024 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Tuesday Oct 1st 2024, is Canada's National Seniors Day. On Oct 1st, seniors AND the general public are invited to join in a WALK for the climate and meet at 2:30 pm, at one of two locations: St. George's Square OR the Covered Bridge by Royal City Park. From these two points, we will walk en masse and converge at Guelph City Hall for a rally starting at 3:15 pm. Participants are encouraged to carry their climate messages and concerns on a placard. Our rally will include speakers, and musicians, among them, Guelph senior and Professor Emeritus David Douglas, Guelph youth Indigo and Abigail, Evan Ferrari, Executive Director of eMerge, Ross Kirkconnell, Executive Director of the Guelph Family Health Team, Tova Davidson, Executive Director of Sustainable Waterloo Region and local singer songwriter and former city councillor, James Gordon. Guelph's own "Raging Grannies" will also make an appearance. Around the globe, young people have taken the lead on climate action. Come out to show them they are not alone but also to voice your own concerns and to learn more about what you can do to make a difference.
