Our mission at GuelphToday is to strengthen the communities we serve and in the spirit of strengthening the Guelph community, we are spearheading a food drive in support of the Guelph Food Bank.
The holidays can be a stressful time for many families and now more than ever, the local food bank needs our help to keep the shelves stocked.
In response to that need, we asked Food Basics on Eramosa Rd. to donate food packages for our loyal readers to purchase for the food bank through an online pop-up store.
GuelphToday then matched whatever was purchased as a cash donation to the food bank.
But that’s not all.
We know that Guelph is full of caring individuals and businesses who would generously donate to this initiative as well. So, we contacted a number of local businesses to see if they would also like to match reader contributions with a cash donation.
As a result, for every food package purchased in our pop-up store from now until Dec. 15 at 12 p.m., each dollar will be matched 17 times and all proceeds will go directly to the food bank.
That means your $25 donation will be turned into a $450 donation!
Here is how you can buy a food package in support of the Guelph Food Bank:
- Log in to your GuelphToday account (or register for free).
- Select a food package you would like to donate and enter your credit card details.
- Check the 'Confirm’ button and click ‘Donate’ to confirm your purchase.
- That's it, you did it! You gave back to our community this holiday season.
Thanks to Food Basics on Eramosa Rd. for donating the food packages, and the following businesses who have joined us in matching each donation: ArtMed Medi Spa, Auto Clinic Guelph, Anthony Homes, Bigelow Flooring Inc., Bisson Dentistry, Dietrich Law Office, JL’s Home Hardware Building Centre, Keller Williams Home Group, Kirtida Kitchen, NV Kitchen & Bar, Original Home Furniture, Parada Dentures, Peter A. McSherry Law Office, Right At Home Canada, Switzer-CARTY Transportation and Wise Crescent Inc.
GuelphToday is proud to lead this worthwhile cause in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our community, particularly as the holiday season draws near.
Programs like this and support from businesses and community members - like you - help us to give back to Guelph.
