Crash knocks out power in east end, Victoria Road partially closed

Nobody was physically injured in the incident at the intersection of Stone and Victoria roads

Expect a busy stretch of Victoria Road to be partially closed for a bit, as hydro crews work to restore power after a single-vehicle crash that damaged some hydro lines.

Guelph police say a call came in at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, which brought officers to the intersection of Stone Road and Victoria.

A pickup truck left the roadway, took out a utility box and came to a stop in the south corner of the intersection.

Power outages were reported, according to police spokesperson Scott Tracey.

As of 11 a.m.,tow truck operators were on scene trying to get the truck out safely.

Police are on scene, as is Alectra Utilities.

Police have closed the southbound lanes of Victoria, starting at College, as well as the northbound lanes beginning at Arkell Road. This, so hydro crews can work on getting power back to the area.

Those approaching the intersection from Stone Road are being directed.

Tracey said there were no physical injuries reported.
