Guelph Farmers’ Market

2 Gordon St.; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Check out an abundance of fresh produce, baked goods, beverages, and products from local meat producers

Eramosa River Trail parkrun and walk

Eramosa River Trail at 85 York Rd.; 9 a.m. to noon

A free weekly timed 5k run, jog, and walk kicks off just east of the covered bridge near The Boathouse. Newcomers are encouraged to join at 8:45 a.m.

Earth Day tree planting

Hanlon Creek Forest, 335 Laird Rd., 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A tree planting event hosted by Rotary Club of Guelph and Trees for Guelph. Food, entertainment and an environmental fair with booths will also be featured. Learn more here

Community Work Day

6981 Concession 4, Puslinch; 10 a.m. 

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is holding a community work day to tackle some much-need outside farm chores to get the sanctuary spruced up for spring. From snow fence removal to trail maintenance and general cleaning, there is something for everyone to help with. RSVP by emailing [email protected].

Repair Cafe

55 Wyndham St. N., Unit T8 (Old Quebec Street Shoppes).; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring your broken items and get them fixed with the help of expert volunteers. Electronics, small electrical appliances, clothing, computers, clocks, bikes and more are welcome. Learn more here

Free Children’s Clothing

72 Lemon St. (King George Gym) ; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Join King George School for the biannual children’s clothing event. Celebrate Earth Week by refreshing your child’s wardrobe in a sustainable way with free used children’s clothing, shoes and accessories. Donations will not be accepted during this time. Enter through the gym tarmac door back of the school. 

Poetry Art for Kids

Westminster Square Branch; 2:30 p.m.

Drop in to the Westminster Square Branch of the Guelph Public Library to get creative with words and art. For primary and junior grades; no registration necessary. 

Five Alarm

Guelph Little Theatre; 8 p.m.

Head to the Guelph Little Theatre this weekend to see Five Alarm, a play about a fairground in Killaloe, Ont., home to the annual Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off, where Killaloe residents come each year to compete for the honour and the cash prize. The most determined of these is Ava Rose, who has tried (and failed) to win for sixteen years. Get tickets here

GAIN Fest Arts Market

55 Wyndham St., Guelph (Red Papaya Thai and Grill); 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Hosted by Snakeroot Productions, the GAIN Fest arts market will showcase strange and unusual artists, with live musical performances and band merch. Learn more here.

Clean & Green Community Clean Up 

Huron Street Community Garden; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Join the Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group for a community clean up this Sunday. Gloves and bags are provided. Passes to recreation centres are available as a thank you. Meet at the Huron Street community garden to get your supplies. 

Pet Parent Day Market

349 Elizabeth Street; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Bring your pup by the Tri-City Bee Rescue this Sunday for a special photo area, a puppy bubble zone and pet snack makers and creators who have custom gear for sale. Guelph and District Labour Council Day Of Mourning

Goldie Mill Park, 75 Cardigan St, Guelph; 1 p.m.

April 28th is the National Day of Mourning. Every year, thousands of workers, friends and families of fallen workers gather at ceremonies across Canada to recognize the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. This year, we will gather in communities across the country. As we mourn for the dead, the Canadian Labour Congress continues to fight for the living.
