Local lawyer acclaimed as Guelph Conservative candidate in 2022 provincial election

Guelph lawyer Peter McSherry will represent the Conservatives in Guelph in the 2022 provincial election.

McSherry, a 52-year-old Kingston native who runs a Guelph law practice specializing in employment law, was acclaimed by the Guelph PC Association on Tuesday night.

"Peter brings a wealth of experience and commitment to what we stand for, honesty, integrity and a belief that he can make a difference in the lives of the people of Guelph," said riding association president Bob Coole.

McSherry presently serves as vice-chair of the Guelph Police Services Board, board member of the Rotary Club of Guelph and secretary of Bracelet of Hope board of directors.

He was formerly a board member and secretary of Torchlight Industries and former past-president and member of the Kiwanis Club of Guelph.

McSherry has been married for 26 years and has one daughter.

In the 2018 provincial election the local conservative candidate was Ray Ferraro. He finished second to the Green Party's Mike Schreiner, garnering 22 per cent of the votes, compared to 45 per cent for Schreiner.
