Guelph Hydro said 1,600 people are without power in the city's north end due to downed power lines caused by the high winds.
Gueph Police were asking people to stay in their homes to avoid downed power lines and trees.
Extreamly high winds through Guelph and surrounding area. Police are requesting that everyone stay inside their residences until this passes. Many dangerous conditions including trees and hydro wires down throughout the city. @gpsmedia

At approximately 5:45 p.m. the Hanlon Expressway between Wellington Street and Stone Road was closed to traffic.
Carden Street in Downtown Guelph was also closed for a period of time as siding and shingles flew off nearby buildings.
Several tree branches had fallen and hit vehicles throughout the city.
Power lines were reported down throughout the rural areas.
A tractor trailer was blown over on County Road 32 between County Road 124 an Fife Road and County Road 32 was closed in that area.
