Centennial students allowed back in school (UPDATE)

Fire department said investigation revealed no issues and students are back in class

UPDATE (2:48 p.m. Tuesday): The Upper Grand District School Board provided the following update:

"On Tuesday May 7 at around 11:45am, Centennial CVI followed its emergency procedures to evacuate the school, due to a strong odour in the building.

All students and staff were moved outdoors and emergency services were called.  After a thorough investigation the fire department gave the all clear to return to the building.  Students were re-admitted at 1:20pm and the schedule for the afternoon was adjusted to ensure there was time for lunch as well as continuation of learning in periods 3 and 4.

The initial investigation determined that it was likely that an irritant was released in the building and the school will now be conducting its own investigation into the cause.

Thank you to all staff and students for acting quickly and effectively to ensure the well-being of everyone at CCVI."
