Flora's Walk is named in honour of Flora Babakhani.

This is Guelph’s first year hosting Flora’s Walk for perinatal mental health.

The walk is on May 4 at 10:30 a.m. Participants will meet at Hanlon Creek Park for a one to 3k walk through Preservation Park.

It is named in honour of Flora Babakhani, a mother who died in 2022 due to untreated postpartum psychosis.

The event is in partnership with Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative. It is family friendly and people are welcomed to walk as little or as much as they can. Everyone is invited to yoga in the park for more community building after the walk.

At this year’s walk, 75 per cent of the funds raised will go towards The Angel Fund, through The WOMB Guelph. It helps people in their perinatal mental health journey through accessing resources like therapy services, mental health workshops, and support groups.

The remaining 25 per cent of the funds will go to Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative and its efforts to establish perinatal mental health policies in federal and provincial levels of government.

People can donate or join Guelph's team to start fundraising. Organizers are excited to bring the initiative to the Guelph community.
