It’s not yet known precisely how many cattle perished in a Saturday afternoon barn fire in Wellington North, though no injuries are to reported to farm occupants or emergency responders.
The fire broke out about 4 p.m. along Line 12, south of Conn.
“The barn was fully collapsed,” Callise Loos, Wellington North Fire Service’s deputy fire chief, said via email. “The barn contained about 300 beef cattle. … Some cattle have been lost but it's too early to tell how many at this point.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The value of damages isn’t yet known.
Firefighters are expected to be on scene for several hours, Loos noted.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
