Providing a fake name turned a traffic ticket into a criminal charge for a Guelph man Monday.
Just after 10 a.m. police were patrolling on Eramosa Road. When he pulled behind a grey SUV, the driver abruptly turned into a commercial plaza and went into a business.
The officer spoke to the driver when he left the business and the male provided a name later determined to be false. The officer was eventually able to learn the driver’s true identity and that he is a suspended driver.
A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with obstructing police and driving while suspended.
