As the weather cools and fall approaches, local residents turn their attention to getting ready for winter and making sure they have enough warm clothes.

For some families, especially newcomers to Canada, that’s not so easy, says the Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium.

First, they may have no idea of how cold it is going to get and second, it’s another expense they perhaps can’t afford, the club said in a news release.

The Rotarians, in partnership with The Clothing Closet and Stone Road Mall, are once again collecting new or gently used coats and winter clothing which will be made available for free at the Clothing Closet at 400 Victoria Rd. N., open Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m.

The campaign will run for the month of October and donations can be deposited in the bin outside Guest Services at the mall.

Last year the community was generous and over 80 coats were collected – for men, women and children.

The club asks that you to remember this campaign as you sort through your closet.
