Update 9:48 - Deputy fire chief Callise Loos said in an email the vehicle was a natural gas recycling truck but it was empty as it had just dumped its load. The driver was out of the truck and there were no injuries.
Wellington OPP said in an updated social media post that the highway has now reopened.

MOUNT FOREST – A garbage truck fire has closed a major thoroughfare in Mount Forest on Wednesday morning.
Wellington OPP advised in a social media post on X Highway 6/Main Street in Mount Forest is closed between Industrial Drive and Durham Street due to a vehicle fire.
Joshua Cunningham, Wellington OPP media officer, said in an email police responded to a garbage truck fire at 7:45 a.m. Wednesay morning at Sligo and Main to assist with traffic control.
Photos and videos posted to a community Facebook group indicate it was a garbage truck that caught fire.
