A new batch of school zone speeders will soon be in focus as city officials prepare to move Guelph's automated speed cameras next week.

The devices, which have been operating in various spots since last August, take photos of vehicles going above the posted speed limit and generate tickets for the registered owner.

As of Wednesday, May 1, the cameras will be found in front of:

  • Ecole Arbour Vista Public School on McCann Street
  • William C. Winegard Public School on Lee Street
  • Central Public School on Dublin Street North
  • June Avenue Public School on June Avenue.

The cameras are set to remain there through the end of July.

This relocation marks the final four spots among 16 school zones where city officials announced the cameras will be placed, spending three months in each.

Currently, the cameras can be found in front of:

  • St. Paul Catholic School on Clairfields Drive East
  • Victory Public School on Exhibition Street
  • Ecole Guelph Lake Public School on Severn Drive
  • Brant Avenue Public School on Brant Avenue.

They’ve been there since Feb. 1.

When the program launched, the cameras were placed in front of Westwood Road Public School on Westwood Road, St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School on Colonial Drive, King George Public School on Metcalfe Street, and Fred A. Hamilton Public School on Ironwood Drive.

On Nov. 1, they were placed in front of Taylor Evans Public School on Stephanie Drive, Cornerstone Christian School on Forest Street, John McCrae Public School on Water Street and St. Joseph Catholic School on Guelph Street.
